The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is conducting a survey for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who are interested in occupational training opportunities in Texas. Providers, advocates, family members and others may also participate. This survey is being conducted in response to Texas Senate Bill (SB) 2027 (85thTexas Legislature, Regular Session, 2017).
SB 2027 requires a study to determine:
- Regions in Texas where occupational training programs should be improved or expanded.
- Strategies for placing people with IDD into fulfilling jobs after attending existing or improved occupational training programs.
This survey will provide essential feedback on respondents’ education and occupational interests. This feedback will be shared with the governor, the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the House of Representatives, the appropriate standing committees of the Senate, and the House of Representatives no later than December 2018.
