Margaret Dempsey, ph.d. receives DFW Child Mom approved nomination
FORT WORTH, TX – October 15, 2015 –Fort Worth Child Magazine announced Margaret Dempsey, Ph.D., Director of Psychology at the Child Study Center, as a “2015 Mom Approved Doctor” after being nominated in their yearly poll. Fort Worth Child hosts this poll annually and encourages their readers to nominate their favorite counselor, therapist and alternative health practitioner.
As a Mom-Approved Doctor, Dr. Dempsey will be featured in the November 2015 issue of Fort Worth Child Magazine and will also be included in Fort Worth Child’s online database of Mom-Approved Doctors for one year. Dr. Dempsey was recognized for her high degree of professionalism, highly individualized approach to testing and treatment planning, constant pursuit of up-to-date measures and testing procedures and for her unwavering dedication to her clients.
As Director of Psychology at the Child Study Center, Dr. Dempsey oversees four clinicians including two psychologists, one post-doctoral level clinician, and one Master’s level clinician. The Psychology Department conducts comprehensive testing and evaluation for developmental disabilities, such as autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral difficulties, and children with genetic syndromes. Recommendations may include referrals for education, therapy or additional consultation. Early identification and treatment are vital to improving the quality of life for a child with a developmental disability. The long-term effects of developmental disorders can impact every area of life. The Psychology Department strives to help each child reach his or her full potential and enjoy a happy and productive life.
Dr. Dempsey received her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996 and is a Licensed Psychologist is the state of Texas. Prior to joining the Child Study Center, Dr. Dempsey was a psychologist at the Mercy Family Center and an Assistant Professor at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists, and the Fort Worth Area Psychological Association.
